I, obviously, have been reading and writing about this topic. One of the issues that is central to the argument of the existence, or not, of God is how can the existence of God be reconciled with the existence of so much suffering in the world. I was watching "House" the other day and Dr. House got into just such discussion about that exact issue with one of his patients. Of course Dr. House took the position that the existence of suffering proves that there is not a Supreme Being who is unfathomably kind and just, because otherwise he would not have allowed that patient to have been raped and he would not have allowed House to experience the chronic pain caused by his leg injury.
So that is one side of the argument. I am still studying and contemplating the other side and intend to write more about it.
